Examination by the Council of the North about a slanderous ballad made against the king [manuscript], ca. 1536.

Deposition of Pero Slyshey alias Dudley, servant to the young Sir Marmaduke Constable, that Dr. Pykeryng, a canon in Byrlyngton (Bridlington), Yorkshire, was reported to have made the ballad. Probably a reference to the popular song attributed to John Pickering, one of the organizers of the Pilgrimage of Grace. (See V.C.H. York, III, 286 and DNB).
